FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHAPPAQUA, N.Y., February 26, 2025— LessonLoop has earned the Prioritizing Racial Equity in AI Product Certification from the Edtech Equity Project through Digital Promise’s Product Certification Platform. This Product Certification serves as a rigorous, reliable signal for district and school leaders, educators, and families looking for edtech products that leverage artificial intelligence and center racial equity in design and development decisions.
LessonLoop received this certification for its groundbreaking professional learning platform which helps educators provide more engaging lessons based on insights from student engagement surveys connected to recommendations of evidence-based instructional strategies.
LessonLoop submitted evidence to the Edtech Equity Project demonstrating the product has been intentionally designed to prioritize racial equity by proactively identifying and minimizing racial bias in the product’s algorithms and design. LessonLoop also demonstrated their commitment by providing transparency about the design processes and the actions they take to identify and reduce racial bias.
Educators use LessonLoop’s AI Activity Generator to generate an engaging activity for their next lesson based on a human expert authored instructional strategy. Each suggested activity includes the option for educators to use LessonLoop’s Blindspot Checker. The Blindspot Checker identifies potential areas where the activity can be more affirming or inclusive, so all students feel they belong and are a valued member of the classroom community. With real-time student engagement insights and evidence-based instructional strategies that can be applied to the next class lesson in engaging activities, LessonLoop empowers educators in grades 3-12 to create more joyful, active, meaningful, rigorous, equitable, and effective lessons.
“Our values are reflected in how we measure success. We are excited to have built caring and appreciation into LessonLoop’s Generative AI (GenAI) capabilities to help educators with a quick check to make sure they have not missed an opportunity to connect with all students from both a cultural and accessibility perspective,” noted LessonLoop Founder and CEO, Nona Ullman.
“This is a critical moment for the edtech industry,” said Nidhi Hebbar, Co-Founder of The Edtech Equity Project. “Schools and families who work hard to champion the needs of their most underserved students can now identify products committed to achieving equitable student outcomes. The Prioritizing Racial Equity in AI Product Certification recognizes product developers who critically and continuously identify and address issues of racial bias within each step of the design and development of their products – from ideation to implementation. We are proud of the work LessonLoop is doing to set an example for the industry!”
